Camogie Notes – 14 April 2016

This week promises to be another busy week in our camogie calendar with the U-14s in action tomorrow evening (Tues) against Mullaghabawn while our seniors host Ballymacnab, in the Premier League, on Wednesday evening. Our county minor cohort has training on Tuesday and Thursday, in advance of their National League final on Saturday, against … yes, you’ve guessed, Tyrone! The venue and time of this final has not yet been announced but I appeal to everyone to come out and support our county players on Saturday, once it is confirmed. Saturday also sees the second of the Armagh U-12 blitzes being run at a central venue (hopefully) commencing at 11.00am. Good wishes to all our players.

Next week our U-14’s are in action again, this time at home to Camlough on Tuesday (April 19) and the following evening, our seniors play host to Madden in the Premier League.

Last week got off to a tame start for our U-16s when Derrymacash gave Clontibret a walk-over. Their next outing is on Tuesday April 26 when they meet Middletown. On Friday last the club members in Scoil Mhuire were among a group of 63 camogie enthusiasts who took part in a Cumann na mBunscol Indoor Blitz. The girls acquitted themselves admirably! Then on Saturday a number of U-12 players travelled with Aisling to St Brigid’s, Armagh, to participate in the first of the Armagh U-12 Blitzes. Many thanks to Aisling and those who assisted her.

Training continues as follows: Senior: Wednesday and Friday, 7.30pm. U-16/U-14: Thursday, 5.30pm (though this will revert to the later time when county minor season concludes). U-12/Beginners: Tuesday 6.00 – 7.00pm. County Minors: Tuesday/Thursday, 6.30pm.

Recently the county minors organised and ran a very successful Easter Draw to purchase half-zips for the panel. Thanks to our Greenan Ladies for their sponsorship and assistance, to Concra Wood Restaurant (Castleblayney) and Wards Chemist Monaghan for their generosity.
Prizewinners: Meal for two in Concra Wood: Paul Monaghan, Middletown
Voucher for Wards Chemist: Éimear McKenna, Clontibret Camogie Club
Easter egg hamper: Paddy Irwin, Castleblayney

Tickets for The Kube are not circulating so please contact any senior club member as soon as possible to purchase same.

Finally, it is important that any parent who has not yet completed the club registration/affiliation/insurance forms please do so as soon as possible to ensure their child is registered and insured to participate in club activities. Seniors are reminded that their registration/affiliation and insurance fees are also due.
