Clontibret 3-7 Monaghan Harps 0-16 A largely experimental lineout struggled at times against the Harps but the introduction of some more seasoned campaigners towards the end saw out a division of the points. The next league match is at home to Latton on Saturday 17th September.

MFL Division 1 Shield Final Clontibret 2-13 St Patrick’s 3-8
A great team display in Scotstown last Tuesday saw our minors retain the Division 1 Shield trophy with a narrow win over the Ballybay/Drumhowan combination. Despite a slow start which gave St Pats a 1-4 to no score advantage, our boys knuckled down in the second quarter to leave it 1-4 to 0-4 down at half time, the introduction of Luke Brennan up front having an immediate impact as he chipped in with a vital point. The second half was a see saw struggle with the lead changing hands a number of times, but crucial goals from Ely Ward and Conor Doyle and some fine points from Darragh Hughes, Michael Savage, Dean McGuigan, Jack Gormley and especially man of the match Dean McDonnell kept our noses in front when it counted, at the final whistle. In the dying moments as St Pats fought to equalize, the valiant efforts of our defenders notably Darren Todd, Darren Moen and Dean Brennan kept them at bay for a notable win. Team captain Darragh Hughes was presented with the McCartan Cup amid scenes of jubilation. Well done to the players and their management team of Kieran Brennan, Shane McMahon and Stephen McGuigan.

Teams and Scorers: Christopher McDermott, Cian Brennan, Dean Brennan, Darren Todd, Dean McDonnell 0-5, Darren Mone, Conor Doyle 1-0, Daniel McDonnell, Darragh Hughes 0-4 (4f), Michael Savage 0-1, Dean McGuigan 0-1, Shea Gorman, Ross Lowey, Eli Ward 1-0, Jack Gormley 0-1. Well done to the U12 squads who played two finals with Scotstown in Clones on Saturday. First up at 11am the Division 6 squad found the going tough against a very strong Scotstown, but it was the Division 1 team that turned on the style when they met the same opposition at 1.40. From Shane McCully who saved a number of certain goals to sharpshooters Lorcan Brennan and Aaron Carey up front it was a star studded performance. Kealan McKeever and Kyle Dunlop protected their goalie in style while Ciaran Doyle and Odhran Keenan were the launch pad for many attacks. Team captain Shane Myers and the best player on view, Lewis Brady, dominated the centre with their attacks supported by the hardworking Josh Lowey and Henry Kelly. Subs Matthew McVicar, Emmet McSkane and Ben Shannon all played their part in a memorable victory.
