Club Notes – 15 February 2018

Registration and Membership
Registration /membership fees must be paid in the coming weeks. This is particularly crucial for playing members from all age groups from Under 8 to Senior in both football and hurling. A decision has been made that if a player has not paid his registration fee, he cannot play or train, and with training sessions now starting in both football and hurling and players are reminded they are not covered by the Players Injury Scheme unless paid up for 2018. The new registration fees are as follows: Adult membership €75 each. (€50 for students/unwaged, but remember that full contributors to the Clontibret Our Future Fund receive automatic membership). Juveniles: €50 each, but where parents are contributors to Clontibret Our Future its €25 per child. All prospective and existing club members must now fill in a membership form as authorised by Croke Park and these will be distributes and collected in the coming weeks. A Juvenile Registration evening will be held next week but meanwhile all adult players in both Football and Hurling must sign up before taking part in any training. Membership forms and fees will be accepted by Club registrar Margaret Walsh (mgtwalsh1@gmail.com) Mob. 0868827647 or any member of the Club Executive

Changing League and Age Group Structures
Many of the leagues will be different this year as a result of changes adopted at County level. As already mentioned the senior league will now have two components, nine games (A games )with county players for five points each and nine games (B games) without county players for two points each. The first five senior league games in March and April will be ‘A games’, with the first one on March 10th, while the Senior B section will start on May 13th with nine games up to the end of July. There will then be four more Senior A games to be played in August and September, with the championship pencilled in for the week end of August19th when we meet Latton. In addition the Reserve league will start on the week end of March 3rd/4th. As a result of these changes our club has decided not to affiliate a second reserve team but instead to go with both Under 18 and Under 21 teams. The U18 competition is scheduled to begin in mid-March, with the U21’s at the end of June. At Juvenile level there is a complete restructuring of grades with teams now running at U11, U13, U15 and U17. All is changed but at the end of the day it will make little difference on the field of play once the ball is thrown in.

Juvenile Registration Evening
A juvenile registration evening will be held in the clubrooms on Thursday, 22nd February from 7.30pm-8.30pm. All juveniles up to u18 are required to attend to pay their registration for the year, which is essential to be able to participate in training and matches. Clontibret Our Future registration will also be available on the evening for anybody who would like to join to help towards the progress of our new playing field.

Scor
The club want to wish our young quiz team, comprising of Allanna Fitzpatrick, Conor Sherlock, Allanna McCarron Walsh and Charlie Moen, and their mentor, Aidan Deighan, the best of luck on Saturday as they represent our club and county in the All Ireland Scor Tráth na gCeist in Sligo. Well done on your achievement to date and we eagerly await the results of the final. Unfortunately Ryan Greenan who has been part of the team to date is unable to participate due to a prior engagement but he will be with you in spirit!

Remembering Past Members
Don’t forget Mass for the deceased members of the club is on Saturday night 17th February in St Mary’s Church Clontibret at 7.30pm. Players and members of all ages are encouraged to attend in club colours to remember our former players and members who have passed on.

Juvenile Hurling
To the disappointment of all, bad weather caused the cancellation of our U10’s second blitz in DKIT last Sunday. Please watch Facebook and see Aidan’s text for rescheduling information.
Juvenile training (U7 and U9s) resumes from Fri 2nd March, 7-8pm in the Community Centre.
(U11 and U13 training details to follow). Equipment supplied. New players welcome!
