The late Benny Mone RIP
It is with deep regret that we record the death of Benny Mone, one of Clontibret and Monaghan’s most iconic footballers of the fifties and sixties.

Benny burst on the scene as a talented teenager in the mid 1950’s winning senior titles in 1955, 1956 and 1958 playing with Clontibret’s more established stars of that era. He quickly established himself as an attacking half back and came to the notice of both the Monaghan and Ulster selectors winning a Railway Cup medal in 1960. In 1968 he had the honour of captaining his beloved Clontibret to another senior county title. In retirement, Benny didn’t rest on his laurels, serving as referee and Team Manager for both club and county.

We extend deepest sympathy to his daughter Marie, son Brendan, brothers Sean and Patsy, sister Margaret and their families. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
