Club Notes – 29 August 2019

Clontibret 2-14 Carrickmacross 0-20

Greenfield Senior Football Championship

We proceeded to the next round of the SFC following a tense finish in Blayney on Saturday night last, which resulted in the first ever senior championship game being decided on penalties. In the next round to be played on the weekend of 15th September we will face one of the other first round winners which will be Scotstown, Truagh or Ballybay/Inniskeen who play this weekend. There was a big turnout at O’Neill Park on Sunday evening for the championship double header and well done to all who had the grounds in such fine fettle for the occasion and to all who helped out on the day. There is another SFC double header on Saturday when Ballybay meet Inniskeen at 4pm followed by the clash of Doohamlet and Castleblayney at 5.30pm. Usual help required to steward this event from 2.30pm.

Shoe City Senior League

Two games left in the senior league with the final away game to Currin on Sunday 8th September at 12.30pm followed by a home game with Inniskeen on 22nd September.

The  two U11 teams are down to play Killiveen in the Liam Stirrat Summer League Final this Saturday. Best of luck to our players and mentors.

The Div 2 U13 team had a great win in their quarter final win over Carrickmacross on Saturday. The Div 6 team played their last group game against Emyvale on Monday and were again unlucky not to get something from the game. They now have a semi final to look forward to in a few weeks.

The U15s play away to Clones in their Championship Quarter Final this Thursday 29th at 7pm. Best of luck boys.

The U17s were defeated by Cremartin in their group game last Tuesday. Truagh were their next opponents on Tuesday night. Result next week.

Camogie Final

This Sunday, Sept 1, our local senior players go head -to -head with Castleblayney in the Senior Camogie Championship final in Pairc Grattan, Inniskeen at 12 noon. Clontibret are seeking their 15th title and despite having 8 of last year’s panel unavailable, they will undoubtedly fight to the end to retain their county and provincial titles. So come out and support the girls in this all-important decider on Sunday and we extend our best wishes to them.
