Greenfield Senior Football Championship

All eyes are now firmly on the SFC semi final where we will face the winners of Truagh /Latton who play this Sunday in Emyvale at 1pm. The semi final is likely to be on Saturday 5th October with time and venue to be confirmed.

 Shoe City Senior League

The last league game of the year ended with a narrow defeat by Inniskeen , but we had already qualified for the semi final. Ballybay finished on top with 44 points while ourselves, Carrick and Truagh each have 40 points. As score difference has been influenced by conceded games positions for second, third and fourth place will be decided by a draw out of the hat.

The Stone Gatherers

The last piece of ground to be reseeded as part of our new development was prepared and seeded during the glorious weather of last week. One of the more tedious tasks of the process is the gathering of surface stones which seem to grow and multiply every time the ground is disturbed. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings last a call went out for stone gatherers to come to help out and the response was fantastic with crews of men, women and children answering the call both evenings. The turnout on Thursday evening was particularly impressive with upwards of 100 volunteers armed with buckets, bags, boxes and baskets clearing the whole area of surface stones in about two hours and following refreshments all departed with a feeling of satisfaction of a job well done mixed in with a whole lot of community spirit and a free tan, Well done to all and many thanks.
