Club Notes – 31 October 2019

Greenfield Senior Football Championship

Champions Again. Clontibret 1-14 Scotstown 0-11. It’s been a wonderful week reflecting on a sweet victory in the county final. It’s always good to win but it’s particularly good to do so when all the pundits said we didn’t stand a chance. Well done to those who believed, especially the players, from Darren who kept a clean championship sheet in goals, to man of the match Mansy in the far corner, and all in between. Our young players stood up when needed and melded with their more experienced teammates to provide a power packed display that Scotstown couldn’t match. Well done to John Mc, Padraig, JP and Mick who worked incessantly all year to have the team just right for that very day. There were scenes of great joy at the final whistle, and again when Mick Duffy was brought back to O’Neill Park and the celebrations were in line with the effort of victory.

Ulster Club Championship

The successful jumping of one hurdle often presents another even more difficult one and they don’t come much bigger than Crossmaglen Rangers. The famed Cross outfit with their long list of Ulster and All Ireland successes provide the opposition in their home patch of the Athletic Grounds Armagh on Saturday evening at 7pm. Referee is Sean Hurson from Tyrone This is a double header with Blackhill playing in the Ulster Junior championship at 5pm.
