Our Future

Clontibret GAA club, current senior county champions and one of the most progressive GAA units in Ulster have launched a major new funding initiative to develop recently purchased lands adjacent to their existing main pitch. Like many growing communities increased membership has placed greater demands on existing facilities with all GAA codes including Football, Hurling, Camogie and Ladies Football catered for.

Resourcing the future needs of the club demands cohesive forward planning and investment to ensure that the club continues to effectively serve Our Children; Our Teams; Our Volunteers; Our Supporters and Our Community at large. The current club leadership has decided to emulate the men of the 1960’s and 1970’s who put in place the present facilities that have served the local community so well over the past 40 years. The time is now right to build on that great foundation and expand the facilities at O’Neill Park so as to effectively serve our growing community over the next half century.

The Strategic Development Plan involves seeking funding from a variety of agencies including the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport which has again become open to applications. As with all funding agencies the club rmust raise a certain percentage of funds in order to meet the application criteria. The plan will be executed in four phases:

Phase 1 – Groundwork and leveling of the site
Phase 2 – To construct a sand-based all-weather pitch
Phase 3 – To erect goal post and ball stops
Phase 4 – To erect perimeter fencing

This is a dynamic project, relying heavily on member engagement with periodic reviews and is an exciting opportunity to translate vision into action by delivering effective solutions compatible with the needs of a progressive club that is aware of its role in the wider community. Teamwork has always been cornerstone of Clontibret’s success on and off the field and this development is of utmost importance for the young people of our community.
